Will's Story:
Hi! My name is Will Pogue, I am 5 years old. I was diagnosed on May 21st, 2008, with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Boy, oh boy, that is a day that my mommy and daddy will never forget. Just when we thought we knew what we were dealing with, the doctors discovered that I also have MRD (minimal residual disease), this means I have an abnormal chromosome caused by my leukemia and need to have a more intensive form of treatment. I have now been put in a high risk group of patients, because only about 10% of leukemia patients have MRD. My initial chemo treatment will last for 11-12 months and then I will have 3 years of maintenance chemo. My doctors believe that we have every reason to be hopeful for remission. We are just going to have to fight harder for it, and with your support, I can do that! My mommy & daddy have made it their goal to raise money for childhood cancer research and bring awareness to the community that his happens to children & it shouldn't! I hope you will help!
